You can’t not enter France on an American travel document. It’s not officially recognizes. You have either have a full American passport. But you can apply for visa to France using your Ethiopianan passport.
AP only lets you back into US. It has nothing to do with entry permit to France. Even after you get green card, you still need to check visa requirement to other countries based on your passport of citizenship.
As an Ethiopian citizen, you are required to have visa to enter France.
